The Tennessee Firearms Association is raffling a Bushmaster AR-15 semi-automatic rifle to protest President Obama and politicians who supposedly want to "destroy" 2nd Amendment rights.
The Bushmaster AR-15 is the same rifle that was used by Adam Lanza to kill 20 children in Newtown, Connecticut.
According to The Tennessean, the raffle has more than 10,000 entries for the drawing on April 28.
The Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA) website states: "TFA is giving away a BUSHMASTER AR15 to advance the effort to resist Barack Obama, the federal government and even a few in Tennessee state government who are determined to destroy your 2nd Amendment rights!!"
"Our rights under the 2nd Amendment and even the Bill of Rights are not safe in Tennessee! We must act with force and determination to protect, preserve and restore our rights!!!!"
“This may illustrate perfectly what I’ve been saying all along. They create these issues to raise money. That just stokes the fire to frighten folks," said former state Rep. Debra Maggart, who lost a Republican primary last year after the NRA and TFA spent almost $100,000 against her.
"The TFA's assault weapon giveaway just four months after Newtown and in the middle of our country's debate about gun safety is in-your-face insensitive,” said Linda McFadyen-Ketchum, a Nashville gun control activist. “We have to balance the right to bear arms with the right to be safe."
