Teen Slender Man Enthusiast Sets Fire To Her Home As Mother, Brother Slept (Video)

A Florida teen with an interest in Slender Man allegedly set bleach and rum-soaked linen on fire and burned down part of her Port Richey home on Thursday night.

Lily Marie Hartwell, 14, allegedly set her house on fire at 1:43 a.m with her mother and 9-year-old brother sleeping inside. The family managed to escape the blaze unharmed.

Detectives said Hartwell’s journal found at the scene included several entries that mentioned “killing” and "if this keeps up there will be no safty (sic) in this house" and "Mom if you ever find this before it happens Im sorry..."

Hartwell was charged with one count of arson and two counts of attempted murder.

Investigators said Hartwell admitted to visiting websites related to The Slender Man, including and, WFLA reported.

When first responders arrived at the scene Hartwell’s mother said her daughter was unaccounted for. While police looked for her she received two texts from the girl stating, "Mom Im so sorry I dont know why I did it" and "Did any of u get hurt."

After being taken into custody, the girl reportedly told investigators that she decided to set her home on fire after reading the online book “Soul Eater,” which made her upset about being bullied and her mother disciplining her.

She then allegedly sprayed a mixture of rum and bleach on the floor of the family’s garage and set it on fire, according to the arrest affidavit.
