An 18-year-old man from Florida asked his neighbor if he could do her yardwork as a way to apologize for raping her.

Timothy Adam Walding, from Boynton Beach, was arrested Oct. 6 on three counts of sexual assault with a weapon as well as one count of burglary and one count false imprisonment, reports the Palm Beach Post.

Walding allegedly broke into his neighbor's home while she was sleeping. He tied her hands to the bed and held a knife to her neck before sexually assaulting her, police say.

The victim says she pleaded with Walding to not kill him. Walding said that he wouldn't, as he did not want to leave her two children without a mother, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

He then reportedly remained in the room and began talking to her. He allegedly insisted that she knew him. But because he was wearing a mask, the victim said could only see his eyes and did not recognize him.

"[The woman] said the more she spoke with to the suspect, she realized he was very young," a detective wrote in his report.

Eventually, she was able to identify him as her neighbor and Walding pulled off his mask.

According to the police report, Walding told her he broke into the house by picking the lock with a fish hook. He also reportedly said that he didn't want to assault her, but did because of how easy it was to break in.

"You really should deadbolt your door because I didn’t really want to do this, but I had to do it," he told her.

Walding also said "it would not be awkward" to live next to each other because he was joining the military at the end of the month.

The victim kept talking with him because she felt intimidated and thought the more she conversed with him, the more likely he wouldn't hurt her again, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Eventually, she says Walding untied her and went outside to smoke a cigarette. He then returned to the victim's room and, according to the police report, asked "if he could make this up to her by doing some yard work or by fixing something around her house."

She said no.

After an hour and a half, Walding went home and the victim called for help.

Responding deputies arrested Walding after the victim confirmed that he was the one who attacked her.

He was booked into Palm Beach Jail without bail.
