Police: Mom Seen Throwing Baby Off Bridge, Then Jumping (Video)

A 19-year-old mother was charged with attempted homicide after reportedly throwing her 1-year-old baby off of a bridge and jumping after him.

Witnesses say the teen mom, identified as Johnesha Perry of Allentown, Pennsylvania, threw her baby boy into the Lehigh River off of the Hamilton Street Bridge before jumping into the waters herself on May 3.

Police arrived quickly and found Perry on the river bank injured but conscious, and moments later, two officers saw the baby floating 700 yards downstream. The officers were able to rescue the baby and performed life-saving CPR. Thankfully, the 1-year-old was revived and then rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

“I commend these two officers for actually going into the river and pulling him out and doing CPR,” Allentown Police Captain William Reinik said, according to WFMZ. “That’s what saved this baby’s life, in my opinion.”

Perry was rushed to the same hospital as her son, and although she remains hospitalized, multiple charges have been filed against her, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
