A teacher in El Paso, Texas, is under investigation after an argument with a student was caught on video (below).
In the video, the teacher is seen demanding that a student leave the classroom. The teacher begins yelling profanities after the student refuses to leave, and the argument nearly gets physical when the student approaches the teacher.
The student is quickly apprehended by bystanders and finally leaves the classroom.
The argument allegedly began when the student threw a sharpener, according to KFOX.
“It takes two people to argue and fight so obviously they would have to investigate and see the reason behind the argument,” senior Rene Garcia told KFOX.
“She just changed because she just snapped,” fellow senior Chris Thompson added. “Anybody can put their hands on you and you're going to change. It just happens."
The El Paso Independent School District subsequently released a statement acknowledging the incident.
“The El Paso Independent School District has been made aware of an online video depicting a verbal altercation between an Irvin High School teacher and one of her students. The District has begun the process of authenticating the veracity of the video and – if proven authentic – the steps that lead to the altercation,” the statement read, according to KFOX.
“The District has begun an investigation into the incident," the statement continued. "EPISD has reassigned the teacher believed to be in the recording to a position where no contact with students is required. No further comment will be made until EPISD concludes its investigation.”
