Walter McCrimmon, a 44-year-old teacher at Raleigh-Egypt High School in Shelby County, Tennessee, has been accused of running an illegal strip club and brothel called Walt’s Place, police say.
Over the course of three months, undercover officers for the Memphis Police Department (MPD) visited McCrimmon's club and discovered that patrons could pay a $20 membership fee that granted them access to events that included dancers performing and simulating sexual acts. The club reportedly had no compensated dance permit.
Patrons could also buy sex for $50, according to a police affidavit obtained by the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Undercover officers made eight prostitution deals, including some with McCrimmon personally. On Nov. 14, police raided the club and McCrimmon has since been charged with eight counts of promoting prostitution, unlawful sale of alcoholic beverages, and money laundering, WMC reported.
"We will continue to dismantle businesses that are operating in an unlawful manner," Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said. "We are dedicated to bring relief to communities afflicted by businesses such as this one."
McCrimmon has been suspended from his teaching position without pa,y and Shelby County Schools said in a statement that they “are very concerned about the severity of these allegations.”
McCrimmon posted a $50,000 bond and has been released from jail.
