Teacher Badmouths Student With Learning Disability On Facebook, Resigns From School

A Georgia teacher is now out of a job after badmouthing a student with a learning disability on Facebook.

“[T]hanks a lot, kid, for finally coming to finish your effin’ final more than THREE HOURS after school let out,” the Latin teacher wrote on Dec. 18, according to 11 Alive.

She then called the student a derogatory name.

“He has some [expletive] disorder: one of those ‘we don’t know what his disorder is and we don’t want him to be labeled, so we are not going to find out, but we want academic accommodations anyway’ disorders,” she wrote.

She explained to her more than 400 Facebook friends that the student gets an extra hour for each final and then complained that he only finished all six of them by Friday afternoon.

She wrote that she wanted to be sad for the student, but at the end of the day everyone was better with him not around.

In a statement, the Fulton County School said that school officials were “appalled” by the posts the teacher made. After the teacher was contacted by the school, she decided to resign.

Candance Ledetter, a former middle school teacher who is now a social media consultant, told 11 Alive that there was no reason for the teacher’s language on Facebook, especially since she was representing the school as an employee when she posted those words.
