Note to teachers of the world (and anyone else for that matter): use separate online storage accounts for your personal and work life.
A Little Rock, Arkansas middle school teacher is awaiting disciplinary actions after an image of her performing sexual acts accidentally popped up in a class lesson. School officials say the image was stored on the teacher’s iCloud account and was mixed in with her lesson plans.
One father became aware of the incident when his son came home from school and told him what he’d seen in class.
“[My son] says she was performing sex acts,” parent Nicholas Tolerson said. Tolerson, who was understandably upset by what his son was exposed to, said “My heart goes out to not only my son, but other kids in the classroom.”
The apologetic teacher personally called the parents of students in her class to express her remorse for the mix up. She also sent out a statement through the Little Rock School District taking full responsibility for the gaffe.
Here is an excerpt from the statement:
“Hello my name is [redacted] and I am your child's [redacted]. Today an unfortunate and embarrassing incident occurred during class. An inappropriate picture that was taken on my personal phone was transferred to iPads in the classroom.
“Unfortunately some of the students were exposed to the photo by accident. I would personally like to apologize for and inappropriate and unprofessional image that your child may or may not have seen. Please know that the photo was never intended for view by anyone here at the school. The incident is being investigated and appropriate sanctions for my actions will occur.
“Every measure is being taken to ensure that the picture is not accessible from any source.”
