Pop superstar Taylor Swift was dismissed from jury duty in Nashville, Tennessee, after telling the judge she would most likely be biased. The case involved sexual assault and kidnap.
During the screening process, Swift said she was already involved in a civil case in Colorado involving radio DJ David Mueller, the Daily Mail reported. She claimed Mueller groped her backstage while they were taking a picture together before her performance at the Denver Pepsi Center in June 2013.
Mueller was fired and tried suing Swift for slander. Swift responded by counter-suing.
According to a court document, “Mueller did not merely brush his hand against Ms Swift while posing for the photograph. He lifted her skirt and groped her.”
Swift reportedly had her security team remove Mueller from her concert that night.
According to TMZ, the case in Tennessee involved a man who was accused of penetrating a woman with a broom handle and holding her against her own will. The judge ultimately decided that Swift could not be impartial, and dismissed her from jury duty.
Swift, who was a major topic of discussion at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Aug. 28, despite not being there, appeared to be in good spirits during the screening process. She took selfies with fellow jurors and signed autographs.
