Some are saying that 2014 was Taylor Swift’s best year, and based on the video she posted yesterday, it’s difficult to argue otherwise.
Before the pop superstar hit the stage in Times Square last night, a video was uploaded onto her YouTube channel highlighting all the ways that Swift has thanked her devoted fans this past year, particularly during the holiday season.
“I experienced so many moments of true love this year, and all of them were with you,” Swift posted along with the video. “Here's to more magic in 2015.”
In the clip, Swift can be seen wrapping presents that she purchased herself and writing out personalized cards to send out to fans.
Around holiday time, Swift became known for what is now being called “Tay-lurking.” The Blaze explains that this new term refers to Swift’s use of social media to learn every detail about her most devoted fans. When the music superstar decided that she wanted to give back to the fan, she would leave a single Santa Claus emoji as a comment on their account, indicating that she was planning to do something special for them.
“Large FedEx boxes began to appear on the doorsteps of certain fans in what became tenderly referred to as ‘Swiftmas,’” the video says.
In addition to her giving back during the holidays, Swift also thanked her fans by surprising them in different capacities. After receiving an invitation to a bridal shower from a dedicated fan, the singer and songwriter decided to show up to the party with a gift in hand. The fan’s reaction to the surprise was caught on camera, and Swift’s reputation as humble and giving was solidified.
