In what may become another collegiate sex scandal, Syracuse University men's basketball assistant coach Bernie Fine, who has been at the school for 35 years, is now under police investigation for sexual abusing two former ball boys: Bobby Davis and Mike Lang.
Lang recently gave an interview to ESPN reporter Mark Schwarz, who asked, "How many times did (Fine) touch your penis?"
"I can't... Probably, 15, 20 times," answered Lang. "When you tell him, you know, when he first did it he'd move away and you didn't want to say anything. You didn't feel like you were capable of saying anything, you know, he was a god to you. He can do whatever he wants. But, not with me. I didn't feel right about it and I told him, 'Bernie please do not do that to me'. And then he would do it again, and again, just made me feel odd."
Schwarz also interviewed Fine's other alleged victim Bobby Davis, who said: "I think he tried to act like a father figure and tried to put that in my mind now that I look back at it. But, sixth grade, 11- or 10-years old, he started to try and touch me and things like that and, honestly, I thought that was suppose to happen."
"You know, I cringed up and didn't want it to happen and was very, like, what's going on. I just remember being disgusted in a sense, you know, but that's when he tried to touch my privates."
When asked about which private part Fine touched, Davis said: "My penis. If I had shorts on, he would start rubbing my leg and then he would gradually put his hands down my pants. He'd try to grab my penis. And, if I resisted, which I would do all the time, he would get more aggressive. You know, he would grab it and say, 'just relax'. If I didn't, you know, he'd pull it and say, "relax".
Schwarz admitted that ESPN had information on Fine in 2003, but did not go forward with the story because it didn't have another victim to back up Davis' claims. Now, that Lang came forward, Schwarz had enough resources to break the story.
