Suspect Taunts Police on Facebook, Leads to His Own Arrest

The photo Anthony Lescowitch posted of himself on Facebook was no ordinary photo. It wasn’t even a selfie. It was his wanted photo.

On Monday night, police in the northeastern Pennsylvania town of Freeland shared a wanted bulletin of Lescowitch on their Facebook page. Lescowitch, 35, was wanted on assault-related charges.

Mere minutes later, evidently priding himself on his ability to elude the police department, Lescowitch reposted his own wanted photo on his Facebook wall. The photo was accompanied by a taunt directed at the police department.

An officer “pretending to be an attractive woman” then messaged Lescowtich, who declined the offer of a drink, but agreed to meet for a cigarette. When Lescowitch arrived at the agreed-upon meeting point, he was arrested.

Less than two hours passed between Lescowitch’s taunt, and his arrest.

Lescowitch will face a preliminary hearing on charges including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct.

Following the suspect’s arrest, the police celebrated their success with a post of their own: “CAPTURED!!!!!! SHARES OUR STATUS ON FACEBOOK ABOUT HIMSELF, CAPTURED 45 MINUTES LATER."
