Draven Rodriguez wants a picture of himself and his cat "Mr. Bigglesworth" to be his senior portrait in his school's yearbook.
The Schenectady High School, located in New York, says it will allow the cat picture, but not as Rodriguez's senior photo (video below).
“I want to be remembered for who I was,” Rodriguez told CBS 6 Albany. “I’m really humorous, very witty, and I wanted this to be a statement like, ‘It’s totally like Draven to do that.'"
Rodriguez has launched a petition to get the unique photo, taken by photographer Vincent Giordano, to be his senior portrait.
On his petition page, Rodriguez writes that the school has not yet declined the picture, but he is getting signatures as a pre-emptive strike:
Hi all. This is my photo that should be going into the yearbook, but we know how finicky the school systems can be. I'm hoping that with enough signatures, my school simply can't turn this down.
Edit: To clarify, the school HAS NOT YET DECLINED this photo. This is my pre-emptive strike just in case such a thing were to happen. I wanted as many backers as possible before the deadline of September 15th.
