A man charged with double murder reportedly spit out a piece of human flesh as police were arresting him.
WFXT reports that 19-year-old Austin Harrouff was arrested in West Palm Beach, Florida, after authorities say he broke into a couple’s home, ingested chemicals in their garage, and then murdered them.
Sheriff’s investigators claim that Harrouff stabbed 59-year-old John Stevens III and 53-year-old Michelle Mishcon to death in their home on Kokomo Lane in West Palm Beach.
As police arrived, they found Harrouff on top of Stevens, biting a chunk of his face off. One deputy used a Taser on Harrouff, but when that didn’t work the deputy began kicking him in the face until he got off Stevens. But Harrouff jumped back on top of the victim and began biting his face again.
Sheriff William Snyder told the media that Harrouff exhibited an extreme amount of strength.
A Tequesta K-9 officer then arrived and deployed his dog, which attacked Harrouff. While the dog kept Harrouff occupied, officers were able to handcuff him. Harrouff then yelled at the deputies, “(Expletive) kill me, (expletive) kill me, shoot me now, I deserve to die,” authorities said.
Harrouff was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he allegedly told staff, “Help me, I ate something bad.”
“What did you eat?” a sergeant asked.
“Humans,” Harrouff replied.
Harrouff faces two counts of second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and burglary of a dwelling.
According to WPTV, Harrouff has conducted an interview with Dr. Phil for his daytime talk show, though the interview has yet to air. Authorities claim that anything Harrouff says in that interview can be used against him in court.
