Here Is The Controversial Cake That Landed One Sorority In Hot Water (Photo)

A member of Delta Gamma Sorority at the University of Maryland reportedly posted a picture of a 21st birthday cake to Instagram that included controversial text.

On the cake, made out of alcohol bottles, the following text is written: “suck a n*gga d*ck.”

The hashtag used by Instagram user "afoxxie" with the photo also included text: “#suckan*ggad*ck.”

The photo received 77 likes from Instagram users.

Reaction from users on mobile app Yik Yak were mixed in a comment thread.

“If they don’t want to be reported then maybe they shouldn’t be writing “nigga” all over the internet,” a user commented.

“#suckan*ggasd*ck on a pic from a girls 21st birthday, not really racist if you ask me,” another user responded.

“You must be white…….,” a user responded.

A separate commenter said they stand behind the usage made by the sorority’s cake.

“I stand by DG #suckan*ggadick (and I’m pretty sure n*ggas would too cause who doesn’t want their d*ck sucked?),” the user wrote.

A student at the University of Maryland, Chandler Perry, discovered the photo on her Instagram feed and was angered over what she saw.

“I was so baffled that 77 people liked it and none of those 77 people told her it was inappropriate,” Perry said.

The vice president of public relations for the University of Maryland’s Black Student Union Samira Johnson was not amused by the photo.

“I didn’t know it was okay for white people to say n**** now? Who knew?” Johnson said.

In response to the photo, The University of Maryland Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life posted to their Twitter feed.

“We are aware of an insensitive post from a community member and are addressing it with the chapter as it does not align with our Greek values,” the tweet read.

One Twitter user attacked their message.

“‘Insensitive’ lmao try “f**king awful and racist” @UMD_GreekTerps @UMD_SBS,” tweeted Andrew Mayton.

Twitter user Rebekka Paisner also showed her dislike in a tweeted response, writing, “@UMD_GreekTerps tis the season for racism, no? “

The sorority posted their own response to Facebook on the matter.

This is not the first time Delta Gamma Sorority has made headlines for member actions, reports The Daily Mail.

In April, an email was sent to sorority sisters telling them to stop being “so f*cking awkward and boring.”  The email concluded with, “And for those of you who are offended at this email, I would apologize but I really don't give a f***. Go f*** yourself.
