Soldier's Attempt To Bring Wife Breakfast In Bed Takes A Scary Turn

Police are still investigating the accidental shooting of Zia Segule, a Fort Bragg soldier.

Reports indicate that the man was surprising his wife with breakfast in bed at their North Carolina home when she shot him through their bedroom door.

On Friday morning, Segule left for work and his wife Tiffany Segule activated the home’s security system before going back to bed. Trying to surprise his wife, Segule brought breakfast back to their house. He did not realize that the alarm system was engaged.

The alarm went off when he entered through the front door. Tiffany said that she assumed it was an intruder and shot her husband in the chest through their bedroom door. The shooting happened at approximately 10:15 a.m. Police report that Tiffany was nervous due to recent break-ins in houses and cars in the area.

The 28-year-old soldier suffered a gunshot wound to the chest but was able to walk and talk after the shooting. He was taken to a local hospital and was released later that day.

Segule told reporters, “I’m good.”
