Sleepwalking New Hampshire Man Shoots Himself In The Leg

What a nightmare. While he was sleepwalking in his home, a New Hampshire man accidentally shot himself in the leg. A woman called police and told them what had happened at approximately 12:30 am Tuesday. The man only awoke after the gun had gone off.

“We’d like to know what happened and have more details, but the only witness was the person who was shot, and it sounds like he doesn’t know exactly what happened,” said Lt. Timothy O’Malley.

The man was taken to the hospital. Concord Police Chief John Duval said the case remains under investigation but that he doesn’t anticipate that any charges will be filed.

“This is a good opportunity to remind our citizens of safe storage of weapons and other practices,” Duval said. “If this is an accident, accidents do happen.”

In a related incident, Connecticut man Winston Riley told police that he was sleepwalking after he was accused of robbing a woman at knifepoint in an elevator at a casino, The Inquisitr reported.

Riley’s lawyer, Nicholas D’Amato, confirmed that his client did actually have a sleepwalking problem. Still, Riley ended up confessing to crime, telling officers he “just wanted some money.” D’Amato still continued to claim that Riley was innocent.

“I told the judge and prosecutor … ‘Do you honestly think he woke up one morning, drove across the state and decided to rob a woman in a place full of security cameras?”‘ D’Amato said. “It doesn’t make sense if you think about it rationally.”
