Webster, New York police say that William Spengler, who lured two firefighters to their deaths, left a typewritten note behind, promising to burn down his neighborhood and “do what I like doing best, killing people.”
Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering said on Tuesday that Spengler armed himself with three guns and set his house on fire to lure first responders into an ambush, reports CBS New York.
Police found human remains in Spengler’s home, believed to be Spengler's missing 67-year-old sister, Cheryl.
However a medical examiner needs to confirm the identity, reports the Associated Press.
After allegedly killing volunteer firefighters Michael Chiapperini and Tomas Kaczowska, Spengler took his own life.
