A surveillance camera caught three men burning a trash bag full of puppies in Brooklyn early Saturday morning.
The shocking footage shows a white minivan parked at the curb next to a warehouse, when one man gets out with a black trashbag and takes it over to a dumpster. Two of the men then light a fire near the bag and leave the scene.
Sammy Omar, a worker at the warehouse, found the puppies’ charred remains when he arrived at work a few hours later. The remains, according to authorities, belonged to one adult pit bull and three puppies. It is unclear if the dogs were dead or alive when the men set the bag on fire.
"It was horrible, a very bad scene. Why do this? I hope someone sees this and comes forward,” Omar told NBC New York.
The NYPD has launched an investigation into finding the men responsible, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has also been notified of the incident.
