The passengers on Spirit Flight 141 were treated to some in-flight entertainment, but it ended in turbulence when a group of five women started fighting over a boom box (video below).
Two women, who allegedly appeared to be intoxicated, were playing music out of the boom box, but after other travelers complained, the women asked “What are you going to do?”
“Then to provoke the other customer they were holding up their boom box in the air, waving it around,” Spirit Airlines spokesman Paul Berry told the Los Angeles Times. The brawl broke out when another group of women intervened and the hair-puling and punch-throwing was caught on another customer’s cellphone camera.
Law enforcement officials, including the FBI, responded to the fight when the plane landed in Los Angeles, from its departure in Baltimore, Maryland, KNBC reported. Officer Rob Pedregon said it was a “mutual combat situation” and the five women who were involved were pulled off the airplane. According to FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller, no one was charged in the incident.
The women who were involved in the fight have not been identified and it’s not clear when the fight occurred during the flight. The answer to perhaps the most important question, which song was playing, also remains unknown.
"I'd be really afraid," LAX traveler Shamaila Taj told CBS News. "A plane is probably the last place you'd want to do something like that ... I would freak out more so than anything else. I would be scared out of my mind because you're stuck on a plane. There's nowhere else you can go.”
