A Texas couple has been expressing their opinions about Donald Trump by driving around with a “F**k Trump” sticker on her truck.
It reads “F**k Trump And F**k You For Voting For Him” — something that the local sheriff took notice of.
The Fort Bend County sheriff posted the sign on Facebook and asked users to identify the owners to remove it — or face a disorderly-conduct charge for driving it.
“I have received numerous calls regarding the offensive display on this truck as it is often seen along FM 359. If you know who owns this truck or it is yours, I would like to discuss it with you. Our Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding it, but I feel we could come to an agreement regarding a modification to it.”
Sheriff Troy Nehls even posted the pertinent part of the law:
“Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding it, but I feel we could come to an agreement regarding a modification to it,” Sheriff Troy Nehls later said.
The story went viral and sparked a debate over free speech, with even the ACLU weighing in.
“I thought the whole thing was totally crazy. It’s been on there for such a long time and we have so much positive out of it — more positive that outweighs the negative,” said the truck owner Karen Fonseca. “Look, [the local news crew] found me. He could have done that at the same time, it is an invasion of privacy and everything else because he put me on blast on his Facebook Page.”
Fonseca says it was her husband’s idea to put on the sticker but both of them support the message.
Now, she’s been arrested — but not for the sticker. With all the attention over the viral story, the police found that she had an outstanding felony warrant for fraud.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Fonseca was booked into the county jail. She is out on bond.
