A British man who attacked female joggers has been banned from approaching women for life, according to British media reports.
Clifford Morgan, 29, was convicted of barging one woman and making lewd comments to two others, according to The Telegraph. For these crimes, he was slapped with a 16-month prison term.
But police didn't think that was a sufficient sentence, so they asked the judge to ban Morgan from any contact with women for the rest of his life.
"This man was given sufficient opportunity and support to change his [behavior], but he continued to frighten innocent victims,” said Sergeant Gemma Freestone. "The criminal [behavior] order will provide additional powers to us should he breach this."
Truro Magistrates Court granted the police request and ordered a lifetime ban on Morgan, saying he “must not approach, contact or follow any female in a manner that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress,” according to the Cornwall government website.
"This shows the power and flexibility of the anti social [behavior] tools and powers,” said Tom Styles, from the local Anti-Social Behaviour team, according to the North Devon Journal. "Orders like this are not made without serious consideration to the perpetrator, the victim(s) and the wider community.”
If Morgan ever approaches a woman in a manner deemed illegal by the courts, he faces up to five years in prison and a $6,100 fine, or both.
