US Supreme Court Rejects Opportunity To Ban Death Penalty
The U.S. Supreme Court rejected a Pennsylvania inmate’s appeal to consider a nationwide ban on the death penalty.
Court justices didn’t comment following the rejection of a challenge from death row inmate Shonda Walter.
Walter’s appeal came following a dissent from Justice Stephen Breyer in June to reevaluate the death penalty. Breyer renewed his plea last week when he gave a last-minute reprieve to a death row inmate in Alabama.
That inmate was later put to death.
