An old sewer system nestled in the woods near an Ohio town is known to locals as a portal to hell.
Satan’s Hollow is a storm drain in Blue Ash, Ohio, that served as an “altar room” for Satanists that were known to make animal killings which they believed would open a “doorway to hell.”
“It’s one of the best known, but least seen, urban legends around here,” Rick Fenbers wrote on his blog, Creepy Cincinnati.
WCPO-TV reports that at night, locals claim they can hear female screams as well as see apparitions, including floating faces and a demon called “The Shadow Man,” who guards the portal to hell.
“He is some kind of hall monitor from hell, left here by Satan to guard these tunnels,” Fenders told the station. “The Shadow Man is said to appear in the form of a human, only completely blacked out. Hence his name.”
Police deny the existence of any paranormal activity and say officers are called to the tunnels twice a year to ask people to leave.
But officials told WCPO the storm drain still attracts paranormal groups and it’s also a burden on the homeowners because the “portal” is located on private property.
“It’s rough on the homeowners,” Blue Ash Police Lt. Steve Schueler said. “People park in their driveway and try to get into the drainage system and nobody likes that. (The owner) has had to chase off some people, for sure.”
Paranormal filmmaker, David Scott, recorded his visit to Satan’s Hollow and posted the video on YouTube, saying, “This is one of the scariest locations I have ever investigated.”
Footage shows the inside of tunnels with “666” and other signs related to the devil written on the walls. Watch Scott’s experience as he tours “Satan’s Hollow - The Tunnel To Hell” below:
