Al Sharpton's Daughter Hikes Up Mountain After Filing $5 Million 'Sprained Ankle' Lawsuit

Publish date:

The oldest daughter of Rev. Al Sharpton is facing backlash after she posted photos of herself climbing a mountain, despite previously claiming that she had “permanent physical pain” from a sprained ankle.

Dominique Sharpton, 29, posted a photo on Instagram that shows herself and another person after they climbed to the top of a mountain in Bali.

The photo’s caption read, “We hiked UP the mountain, over the clouds … into the SUNRISE. One of the most beautiful sites ever. And YES I ALMOST DIED GETTING UP THERE LOL. #Balidays we made it, WHEW.”

She hiked the mountain despite the fact that she filed a $5 million lawsuit against the New York City Department of Transportation and Environmental Protection. She claims that she had been “severely injured, bruised and wounded” after she fell on uneven pavement in the city last year.

She claims that she “still suffers and will continue to suffer for some time physical pain and bodily injuries” due to her fall in the neighborhood of SoHo.

“Ms. Sharpton’s decision to climb a mountain in Bali and then post an incriminating photo on Twitter is a gift to the defense,” said CNN legal analyst Paul Callan.

According to her lawyer, John Elefterakis, she “did sustain multiple ligament and tendon tears in her ankle” and “has not returned to her pre-accident form.”
