Report: Shots Fired at Virginia Tech in Coliseum Parking Lot

According to multiple reports, there has been a shooting on the Virginia Tech campus near the school’s athletic complex.

The school’s website notes that a white male wearing gray sweat pants and a maroon hoodie reportedly fired shots in the coliseum parking lot. An advisory has gone out to students and faculty to stay where they are and be alert at all times.

The Sacramento Bee is reporting that a police officer has been shot.

Another victim is also being reported in the Cage Lot, as per the Chicago Tribune. The Tribune is also reporting another crime scene at the Duck Pond.

As per the USA Today: "Police says the suspect is carrying a pistol or a 'long gun.'"

The school's website notes: "A police officer has been shot. A potential second victim is reported at the Cage lot. Stay indoors. Secure in place."

Virginia Tech, of course, was the site of Seung Hui Cho’s 32 shooting rampage that resulted in the death of 32 people. In a crazy twist of fate, this incident is occuring on the same day as the school is appealing a $55,000 fine by the Education Department in connection with the university's response to that 2007 rampage.
