Rapper Cory Gunz has issued an apology to his fans for letting them down following his arrest this weekend for gun possession.
The Young Money rapper, whose real name is Peter Pankey, Jr., was taken into custody by New York police on Saturday after they discovered a loaded pistol in his backpack.
Cory was held in jail overnight and was released on Sunday.
The rapper told The Daily News, “This was a big mistake on my part. I didn’t have any intentions of harming anyone or committing a criminal activity. So many young people look up to me and I need to fight though this. It’s been really hard, really stressful.”
Cory tweeted an apology to all his fans, writing, “I apologize to all of my Supporters, Friends and Family. Things Happen, No excuses. My only regret is letting ya’ll (sic) down… Peace”.
Gunz could face up to three-and-a-half years behind bars if convicted for illegal possession of a loaded weapon.
