In the middle of the chaos that erupted in Baltimore following the death of Freddie Gray in police custody, one man stepped in front of armed officers and became the voice of reason to prevent further violence (video below).
In a video posted to Twitter, a man in a Punisher T-shirt was seen stepping in front of a line of police officers, blocking protesters who were seemingly preparing to provoke them.
“Don’t! Don’t!” The man yelled as he held back angry protesters. “Do not give them a reason!”
The video quickly went viral, with many applauding him for his sense of reason and restraint during a tense situation.
“Good guy. The city needs more calmer heads like him,” one viewer commented on Reddit.
“This guy is a leader,” another said.
The violence in Baltimore began in response to the death of 25-year-old Gray, who suffered a severe spinal injury following his arrest. Gray reportedly requested medical assistance, which the arresting officers later admitted to ignoring.
