'Protect Your Child From Harvey Milk Gay Day' Says Anti-Gay Group (Video)

The anti-gay activist group SaveCalifornia.com is calling on California parents to keep their children home from public schools on May 22 to protect them from homosexual indoctrination on "Harvey Milk Gay Day" (video below).

In 2009, then-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law SB 572, which celebrates "Harvey Milk Day" on May 22 in honor of the man who became the first openly-gay person to be elected to public office in California when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977.

Milk fought for gay rights as well the rights of senior citizens and labor. On November 27, 1978, Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone were assassinated by Dan White, another city supervisor.

"Harvey Milk Day" is designated to teach public school students about the contributions of Milk, but radio ads by SaveCalifornia.com warn that children "will be taught an agenda that attacks our family values."

Randy Thomasson with SaveCalifornia.com told KGO-TV: "Children belong to their parents, not to the government. And so, if government schools are sexually indoctrinating children, it's up to the parents to number one, protect their children and two, protest and tell these schools don't do it again."

Thomasson claimed it is "traumatic for children, to be forced into this, to be made sexually uncomfortable by their own teachers and their own principal."

SaveCalifornia.com devotes an entire page to Milk's sexual life and calls him a "predator of teens." The website also claims that children will have to learn "the entire homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda for which Milk advocated."

According to SB 572, "Harvey Milk Day" does not require any teaching about Milk's personal sexual history or a "homosexual-bisexual-transsexual agenda," but rather advocates school "exercises remembering the life of Harvey Milk, recognizing his accomplishments, and familiarizing pupils with the contributions he made to this state."

In 2012, Thomasson advocated controversial ex-gay therapy for children, which was banned by the state of California, as noted by RightWingWatch.org.
