Professor Holds Student's 2-Year-Old Son During Class Lecture

Amanda Osbon, a single mother and student at DeVry University in Nashville, Tennessee, said she didn’t have any choice but to bring her nearly 2-year-old son, Xzavier, to professor Joel Bunkowske’s class on Sept. 21.

Osbon was initially embarrassed when Xzavier got up in the middle of class and walked towards Bunkowske, but the professor took it in stride, WKRN reported. Bunkowske, who teaches law, business and leadership, according to his LinkedIn profile, picked up Xzavier and then continued the day's lecture.

A student snapped a photo of the encounter, which has since gone viral, USA Today reported.

Osbon told WKRN that Bunkowske “was amazing, patient and kind.”

"Most of us in the class are parents, so everyone was very understanding that he was there,” she added.

Despite Bunkowske’s easy going reaction, Osbon said she still felt uncomfortable -- until the professor reminded the class that everyone struggles and that’s okay.
