Pro Wrestler Jay Briscoe Writes Anti-Gay Threat on Twitter

Professional wrestler Jay Briscoe shared his thoughts today on the Delaware Senate passing a gay marriage measure, as noted by CageSideSeats.com.

Briscoe tweeted: "The Delaware Senate passed a bill yesterday that allows same sex couples to get married. If that makes you happy, then congratulations!!!!!"

He followed that up with:

"... try and teach my kids that there's nothing wrong with that and I'll f*cking shoot you."

In 2011, Briscoe also wrote this anti-gay tweet: "Damn there's a lot of f*gs out in New York today #WhatTheF*ck."

Briscoe's wrestling persona is reportedly a "redneck." It would appear Twitter has taken him seriously and deleted his Twitter page, or Briscoe deleted it himself.

Briscoe currently wrestles on the Ring of Honor (ROH) circuit. According to Slam! Wrestling, he would not get away with these comments if he wrestled in the WWE:

If a WWE wrestler made these statements, it would probably be pretty close to the end for them. Luckily for Briscoe, ROH is so far under the radar that he'll likely skate on these statements.

CageSideSeats.com states:

However, even if he wasn't the Ring of Honor World Champion, Jay Briscoe's latest homophobic outburst on Twitter should not only embarrass ROH management, but also the whole wrestling industry. It's one thing to politely disagree with gay marriage, quite another to say that you would commit acts of violence on anyone who teaches your children that it's OK.
