Amanda Blackburn died on the morning of Nov. 11 after being shot and assaulted during an invasion of her Indianapolis, Indiana, home the day before.
Blackburn, 28, was pregnant at the time of her death, WTHR reported. Her 1-year-old son, Weston Blackburn, was also at home during the attack but was uninjured. Her husband Davey Blackburn, a pastor, was at the gym at the time,.
"We found the adult female victim in the home unconscious. Head trauma. She was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition," said IMPD Ofc. Rafael Diaz, according to WTHR.
She had been shot during the home invasion, according to the police report cited by WTHR.
Three hours before Amanda was found, a nearby house was robbed. It’s unclear if that incident was related to the shooting.
Police have yet to release any information about suspects, and the community is still reeling.
"For something like that, such a brazen attack," Ryan McConnell, the neighborhood crime watch captain, told WTHR. "It makes you scared. You don't want to live in fear."
He added: "We are a close community. We all know each other. For somebody to come in and from the outside and do something like this, it just makes you feel vulnerable, because how do you really plan for something?"
Amanda and her husband had just started an independent church, Resonate Church, IndyStar reported. They had also just recently built a house.
