A man who used to work at the school that California murder victim Norma Lopez attended was the subject of a search warrant, but so far he has not been named as a suspect.
Last week police executed the warrant at the house where 25-year-old Lazarus Tasby lives with his stepparents. Police towed away a green SUV -- possibly the same vehicle that was seen in the area where Norma was abducted and murdered in July.
Tasby was not there when the search warrant was served, an attorney said. Investigators also took papers from his room.
“There have not been any arrests for the murder,” sheriff's Sgt. Joe Borja said
Tasby worked at Valley View High School in Moreno Valley from March 2007 to November 2009. He resigned a few weeks after being arrested on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute, according to Riverside County Superior Court records.
Lopez, 17, was walking home from school on July 15 when she took a shortcut through a field. Police later found her belonings and signs of a struggle there. Her body was found five days later in another field a couple of miles away.
