Police in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, are asking for the public’s help in finding anyone who may have information about a puppy that was found tied to a truck and dragged.

According to authorities, a woman tied the pooch, which appears to be about 10 months old and a pit bull mix, by the neck on the bed of a white pickup truck.

As the truck drove along the 300 block of Maple Street in Columbia around 5:30 p.m., the puppy fell from the truck and was dragged down the street, WGAL reports.

The driver stopped the vehicle and cut off the rope and drove away.

The puppy was rushed to the Columbia Animal Hospital, where he was treated for some minor cuts. He is scheduled to be neutered, receive vaccination and could be up for adoption within the next week, Lancaster Online reports.

While police search for the owner of the puppy, the “Help Find Sophie” Facebook page, a lost and found pet site for Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is encouraging the public to share a post about this canine.

The truck driver who dumped the puppy faces animal cruelty charges.
