Police: Man Shot His New Wife, Killed Himself Hours After Wedding

In what appears to be a murder-suicide, a couple was found dead on Sunday, mere hours after their wedding.

Indiana doctor Greg “Scott” Samson, 54, was married to his new wife, Kelly Ecker, 50, on Saturday. NY Daily News reports that a fight broke out between the newlyweds, forcing guests to leave the reception shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday.

A recording of the frantic 911 calls in the early morning hours of Oct. 5 reveals Ecker’s terror.

“He’s beating the s*** out of me,” Ecker can be heard saying.

“Who is?” asks the dispatcher.

“My husband,” Ecker replies. After she adds that “he’s got guns inside,” the call ends.

As Chief Deputy Clark Cottom of the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office said, “The phone call went dead in a short amount of time. Dispatchers immediately dispatched deputies to the scene.”

Minutes later, Ecker called 911 again, this time exclaiming, “Help!” She can be heard saying, “Oh my God!”

As heard on the 911 recording, multiple shots are then fired, and the call ends again.

Sheriff’s deputies found Ecker dead in the eastern Vigo County mansion with gunshot wounds to the torso and head. She had been shot with a 40-caliber semi-automatic pistol.

Samson, an anesthesiologist at Union Hospital, was found dead in the basement, where he had shot himself once in the head with a 45-caliber handgun. Authorities have said that he had locked himself in the basement with guns and multiple rounds of ammunition.

Ecker’s 10-year-old son from a previous relationship was inside the house at the time of the shooting, as was an elderly couple believed to be Samson’s parents. All three were safely removed from the house without any injuries.
