Police Make Troubling Discovering After Arresting Woman Who Threw Newborn Out Of 7th Story Window

A New York woman is accused of killing her newborn daughter by throwing her out of a seventh-story window.

Jennifer Berry, a 33-year-old who had previously worked in the child welfare field, allegedly killed her baby on Sept. 28, the New York Daily News reports. She will likely face murder charges.

She first denied being pregnant but later told police officers that she gave birth to a stillborn baby in the shower and then threw the lifeless child out of her boyfriend's Bronx bathroom window that afternoon.

New York City Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson discovered otherwise. The baby was alive and died from the fall, Sampson said, according to The New York Post.

"The cause of death is multiple blunt force injuries," Sampson said.

The building superintendent's wife found the baby while taking out the trash and called police immediately.

Before police arrived, Berry's boyfriend, 28-year-old Giovanni Johnson, allegedly found the suspect in the shower, sitting in a pool of blood. She told him she was on her period.

When police arrived, Berry reportedly refused to cooperate.

"They had to kick the door in," Kenneth Bolton, 29, who was in the building when police arrested Berry, told The News.

“She was deranged ... you know when someone has a look in their eyes like they don't know where they are?” Bolton added.

After the incident, police brought Berry's boyfriend in for questioning but he was released.

“I didn’t know [about the pregnancy],” Johnson, who has a 3-year-old son, told The News by phone on Sept. 29. “I didn’t know any of this. I’ve been cleared of all charges.”

According to Johnson, Berry told him that she had gotten pregnant months ago but had an abortion.

Many people close to Berry were also stunned by the incident.

“I suspected she was pregnant, but I didn’t know for sure,” Berry’s mother told The New York Post. “I’ve been waiting for her to say something to me.”
