Police Kill Gunman Shooting Near High School Football Game

Police in Washington State shot and killed a gunman who was randomly firing shots near a high school football game.

Police say the man was firing at passers-by while a game was underway at Issaquah High School on Saturday, sending players, coaches and fans scrambling for cover.

A SWAT team from the Kings County Sheriff's Office responded and killed the gunman. Police would not reveal his name, only to say he was 51 years old.

"We don't know where he was going or why he was going there,"  said Sgt. John Urquhart. "We never had a chance to negotiate with him, talk to him. He was shooting, and the officers shot back."

Witnesses say the gunman abandoned his vehicle in the middle of a street and walked along armed with two weapons, firing at anyone he saw. Fortunately he was a bad shot because he couldn't manage to hit anyone.

Issaquah is located around 15 miles West of Seattle.
