Kim Kardashian Robbery Allegedly An Inside Job

A whopping 17 people have been arrested for the Oct. 2 armed robbery of Kim Kardashian at her Paris apartment.

Her chauffeur was among those arrested, reports the Daily Mail. His arrest bolsters the theory that the heist was an inside job. The 27-year-old driver worked for a service the Kardashians used whenever they were in Paris.

The suspects are all in their 50s, 60s, and 70s, according to authorities. The alleged ringleader is identified as “Pierre B,” a 72-year-old “career villain” who specializes in counterfeit money. Others arrested include jewel dealers who are believed to have been involved in fencing the stolen gems.

Kardashian’s lawyer, Jean Veil, said his client remains traumatized after being bound, gagged and threatened with death during the incident. “The money she lost during this robbery is not the only issue,” he said. “Even though my client was not injured, this assault was very brutal and traumatic. Imagine yourself alone, at night, in front of armed people.”

Also traumatized was her husband, Kanye West, who abruptly walked off stage during a performance when he heard the news, as reported by The Guardian. The rapper was subsequently hospitalized and reportedly has not been the same since.

In addition to all the trauma, Veil admitted that the money is important, too, noting that the arrests “will perhaps make it possible to find the [jewelry].”

He also asserted that it “puts an end to the outrageous speculation by some, who thought it was intelligent to pretend that this robbery was staged, or a publicity stunt organized by Ms. Kardashian.”

Earlier this month, Kardashian mentioned the robbery for the first time in a teaser for the family's reality show. “It makes me so upset to think about it,” she said.

She has indicated that she will return to France if summoned by a judge. Attorney Veil described her as “very calm and very determined…."
