A police officer entered a woman's Phoenix home illegally and arrested her while she was naked. She caught the incident on video (below) and plans to sue the city, reports ABC15.
“I felt helpless, I felt violated,” Esmeralda Rossi told ABC 15. "And honestly, I felt molested."
Police arrived at her Chandler, Arizona, home, responding to an earlier call regarding an argument between Rossi and her estranged husband.
“I was in the shower,” Rossi said. “My daughter came to the shower and said, 'There are two officers at the door.' So I just grabbed a towel.”
According to Rossi, one of the officers, Doug Rose, started acting aggressively. She told him to wait at the door so she could get her cellphone.
“It made me very uncomfortable,” Rossi said. “So I closed the door. I turn to go into my living room, and I probably get about five steps in, and all of a sudden, I just hear boots running in after me, telling me, 'Stop or I’ll arrest you.'”
Rossi and her daughter took out their phones and recorded the officer.
In the video, Rose says that he will arrest Rossi. She tells him that he will not, as she is not doing anything.
Rose then grabs Rossi while she screams at him not touch her and sobs. He handcuffs and manhandles her, causing her to drop her towel. Rose then acts surprised that she is naked.
“This was not the proper treatment of a citizen,” Rossi’s attorney, Marc Victor, told ABC15. “This was disgusting. This was barbaric.”
Rossi, who was never charged with a crime, concedes that she gave the officer an attitude.
“Any one of us would be upset if a police officer barged into our homes without permission,” Victor said. “She had a right to be upset.”
After the incident, Chandler Police launched an investigation and found that Rose entered the home illegally, without probable cause. Additionally, investigators found that Rose did not document that he arrested or un-arrested Rossi, nor did he report that she was naked.
Rose was not disciplined and retired shortly after the investigation began, reports the Inquisitr.
