Police Find Arsenal Of Weapons In Car Of Man On His Way To Meet Facebook 'Girlfriend'

An Indiana man on his way to meet his Facebook "girlfriend” was arrested in New Jersey after a police officer found him sleeping in his car with an arsenal of weapons.

Brick Township Detective Robert Shepherd found Antonio J. Perez, 24, of Elkhart, Indiana, asleep in his car near a housing complex in the New Jersey town on Dec. 30, Detective Sgt. Henry Drew told Perez was on his way to meet his Facebook "girlfriend” of two years, who lives in Brick Township; they had never met in person before.

Upon searching Perez’s vehicle, police found he had four loaded weapons: a Sig Sauer P226 40-caliber handgun, a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver, a Smith & Wesson .357 revolver, and a WASR 10, an AK47 style automatic rifle, along with 1,000 rounds of ammunition, a canister of pepper spray and a gas mask, according to the department’s Facebook page.

Police don't know the exact relationship Perez and the woman share, reports. They also do not know if she was expecting Perez, but she was found unharmed by police.

It is believed Perez was sleeping in his car after being tired from the long drive.

Perez was charged with stalking, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a rifle, possession of other weapons, possession of destructive devices and possession of certain bullets.

He also faces two counts of possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine, possession of a handgun, disposition of weapons, disposition of an assault firearm, possession of marijuana and having an unregistered vehicle.

Perez is currently being held on a $100,000 bail without the option of a 10 percent payment release.
