A Swedish doctor was charged with drugging, kidnapping, and raping a woman in a bunker he built in his home for almost a week.

According to Daily Mail, the man reportedly used strawberries laced with Rohypnol to drug the woman inside her home in Stockholm, Sweden, before driving her almost 350 miles to his property outside of Kristianstad, Sweden.

The 38-year-old doctor then reportedly kept her locked up and raped her for a period of time. Authorities believe he intended to keep her for “several years.”

The man brought two rubber masks of an elderly man and woman to use as disguises during the drive to his home. Police later found the masks in the home during a search.

The man reportedly built a prison-like bunker in order to hold his victim captive over a long period of time. According to Daily Mail, the woman was held for six days in the bunker, which is lined with 12.5-inch-thick concrete walls and has a bedroom, toilet, and kitchen.

The bunker also has a small covered courtyard, where the victim would be able to go outdoors without being seen by neighbors.

The doctor confessed that he took blood and vaginal samples from his victim in order to ensure that she didn’t have any STDs. He also reportedly forced her to take birth control pills so that he could have unprotected sex with her.

After a few days, the doctor drove the woman back to Stockholm in order to retrieve personal belongings. Upon entering her home, they discovered that she had been reported missing and that police had broken in and searched the house. Panicked, the doctor brought the woman to the police station and forced her to tell a fake story about her well-being.

Police grew suspicious, however, and talked with her privately — prompting her to reveal in full detail the horror she’d been forced to endure.

“We believe his intention has been to keep the woman locked up for several years,” prosecutor Peter Claeson said, according to Daily Mail.

“We also suspect him of planning this for years," he added. "Among other things, he has built the bunker to bring one or more victims.”
