On his CNN show tonight, Piers Morgan got into a heated debate with gun rights advocate John Lott Jr. (video below).
As noted by Mediaite.com, Morgan started off the show by asking Lott Jr. about the number of mass shootings in the U.S. from 1982 to 2012 and the types of guns used, which were mostly assault weapons.
Morgan noted gun control worked in Australia, following a mass shooting. Their gun control law resulted in zero mass shootings since it was passed, according to Morgan.
Lott claimed that murder statistics (not specifically gun-related murders) in nations such as Germany and England went up after gun control laws were passed.
When Lott claimed the murder rate in England is one-third of that in the U.S., Morgan said: “Don’t be ridiculous! What an absolute lie!”
