Actor Taye Diggs reportedly crashed his Mercedes SUV in Hollywood, California, on Jan. 4.
It appeared to be a solo wreck and took place in wet weather, according to TMZ.
Diggs appeared to be unharmed following the crash and was able to walk away from the scene. However, his vehicle had to be towed after it ended up in a ditch. One of its wheels was torn off and the axle was damaged.
Diggs was driving on the shopping street Melrose Avenue when the crash occurred. The part of the sidewalk where he crashed is under construction, which was how his SUV ended up in a ditch rather than going through the front of a store.
Onlookers said the 46-year-old seemed to be OK after the incident, according to the Daily Mail. He waited until the car was towed away and was then picked up by a friend.
Diggs is best known for his starring role in Fox TV series "Empire" and is the former husband of actress Idina Menzel.
TMZ sought comment from Diggs’ team on the incident, but did not receive a response.
Another actor was less lucky following a separate car crash Jan. 4 in Los Angeles. Actor David Spade was involved in a three-vehicle crash when his Range Rover was struck from behind by another car, the Mirror reported.
Spade was alone at the time and was reportedly taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries were not reported but he was well enough to be allowed to return home to recover later the same day.
