Police: Brittany Ruck Pulled 6-Year-Old Daughter's Hair So Hard That 'Girl's Scalp Was Separated From Skull'

A mother in Pennsylvania allegedly ripped the hair from her 6-year-old daughter’s scalp because she could not count to 12.

Brittany Ruck, 25, of Conway, pulled her young daughter’s hair so hard that “the girl’s scalp was separated from her skull and blood pooled around the girl’s eyes.”

Ruck was so angry with her child’s inability to count to 12 that she yanked the little girl out of a chair by her hair, the Daily Mail reports.

“The female was having a difficult time counting to 12. She could count to 10 because she had 10 fingers,” Michael Priolo, of the Conway Police Department, told CBS Pittsburgh.

During questioning, Ruck reportedly confessed to pulling the girl’s hair on multiple occasions.

“The head injury was described in medical terms as traction,” Priolo said. “It is a separation between the scalp and skull which creates a void that fills with blood. The blood ended up pulling around the eyes, giving her raccoon eyes.”

The child was taken to a Pittsburgh children’s hospital where she revealed that her mother had pulled her into a corner by the hair the following day, WXPI reports.

She and her two siblings, ages 4 and 1, have been placed with other family members.

Ruck, a pharmacy technician at Millennium Pharmacy Systems, is facing charges including aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She is currently being held in the Beaver County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Her preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 23.
