Pennsylvania Man Charged With 1,278 Counts Of Child Sexual Abuse

A central Pennsylvania man is facing 1,278 criminal counts in connection with the sexual abuse of two children.

Spring Township police arrested and charged Eric Todd Crader, 33, of Pleasant Gap, with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault of a child, sexual assault and indecent assault of a person younger than 13 years old, the Centre Daily Times reports.

The alleged incidents spanned years, some dating back to 2011.

“[Centre County Children and Youth Services] was asked to investigate the case,” Detective Dale P. Moore told the newspaper. “Spring Township and CYS did a joint investigation on the sexual assault of two children, in conjunction with the Centre County District Attorney’s Office. These charges are the culmination of that investigation.”

According to the affidavit filed with the charges, investigators said the case came to light in May, when one of the alleged victims contacted a school guidance counselor about the incidents. The child “did not want to be hurt anymore.”

The abuse, which allegedly involved oral sex and sodomy, happened almost everyday after school.

According to WJAC-TV, police said Crader and the victims knew each other and that the abuse occurred for about two years.

A preliminary hearing for Crader is set for March 5 at 11 a.m. under District Judge Tom Jordan, the Penn State Daily Collegian reports.

Crader is being held in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail. According to online court records, Crader does not have an attorney yet.
