Patricia Krentcil was arrested last week in Nutley Township, New Jersey, after she allegedly took her five-year-old daughter into a tanning booth, where the girl suffered serious burns.
Krentcil has been charged with felony child endangerment.
Police were called by the elementary school attended by the five-year-old, who was in pain due to a severe sunburn. After an investigation, police claimed that Krentcil took her child into a tanning booth a week before her April 24 arrest.
New Jersey State law bars children under the age of 14 from using a tanning facility. Police say that Krentcil brought her daughter into a stand-up tanning booth without the knowledge of tanning facility employees.
Krentcil was freed from the Essex County jail after posting $25,000 bail.
