A woman who police suspected had been dealing drugs from her hospital room in Vancouver, Washington, was caught with meth, a scale and packing materials in her possession by police officers.
According to reports, 47-year-old Karin Cole was a patient at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and had been suspected of dealing meth directly from her room in the hospital. Police officers executed a search of the room with the cooperation of hospital staff, who were unaware of the activity taking place, and subsequently found the drugs and paraphernalia in her possession on Thursday. About 6.5 grams of meth were found.
Cole, who had a previous arrest related to dealing meth, was not arrested following Thursday’s incident due to health concerns. She is, however, no longer a patient at the hospital.
PeaceHealth issued a statement following the incident, emphasizing their continued cooperation with investigators.
“PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center applauds the Camas Police Department for their work in this investigation,” the statement read. “We will continue to cooperate fully in this rare situation. We are not aware of any prior police searches of this nature in our facility's history.”
