Rosie Evans Fluellen, 44, was sentenced to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty to criminal responsibility for the conduct of another and aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to information provided by Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd.
Fluellen, the wife of former pastor Hugo Fluellen, 54, who is serving six consecutive life sentences for several counts of indecency with a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child and sexual assault of a child, was charged because District Attorney Billy Byrd believed “she knew about it and was a party to the crime,” according to News-Journal.
KLTV reports evidence at Hugo Fluellen's trial showed he began molesting his victim of more than a decade when she was in the second grade, and witnesses testified he would often molest his victim on the way home from church after she attended Sunday School and sang in the choir. Hugo Fluellen even fathered a child by his victim a year ago. Today, the victim is 18-years-old.
Rosie Evans Fluellen may not have been the primary offender but she was found to have a legal duty to prevent the offense, Prosecutor Natalie Miller told KLTV.
