A Virginia megachurch pastor who was indicted on multiple counts of child sexual assault will appear on a panel of religious leaders on Good Friday.
Geronimo Scott Aguilar, 43, also known as “Pastor G,” was indicted on eight counts of sexual abuse in Tarrant County, Texas, based on allegations from two underage girls.
Aguilar was arrested in May 2013 and charged with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old and her 13-year-old sister while serving as their youth pastor in Fort Worth. The abuse allegedly took place in 1996 and 1997.
Currently out on bond, he is scheduled to appear at the Cedar Street Baptist Church of God in Richmond on April 18, where he and six others will preach for seven minutes each.
If convicted of the two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14, both first-degree felonies, Aguilar could face a maximum penalty of life in prison.
He has maintained his innocence.
Aguilar resigned from his Richmond Outreach Center megachurch in South Richmond in June 2013. The church has more than $16 million in assets, including a real estate foundation, clothing line and thrift shop, according to 2013 financial records.
