Parrot Set To Be Called As Murder Witness (Video)

A Michigan parrot that uses profanities might be used as a witness in a murder case (video below).

The bird -- an African gray parrot named Bud -- allegedly witnessed Glenna Duram shoot her husband, Martin, to death, reports The Washington Post.

Bud’s specific words, which have caused such a sensation, are “Don’t f------ shoot!”

Newaygo County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Springstead told the Detroit Free Press he is studying the matter in an effort to determine whether or not a talking bird can be used as evidence in a court of law.

“It’s an interesting novelty and it’s been a great opportunity for me to learn about African parrots,” he said.

Springstead says he “highly doubts there is any precedent” for using a parrot on the witness stand, which raises all sorts of perplexing issues -- including how exactly the bird would be sworn in, whether or not he would have to place his foot or wing on the Bible, and so on.

Grand Rapids parrot expert Doreen Plotkowski, after watching a video of Bud uttering the profanity in question, believes that Bud did indeed witness an argument between a man and a woman.

But Michael Walsh, a lawyer from Muskegon, notes it’s impossible to determine whether Bud really witnessed a homicide, or was repeating something on TV.
